Prof. Ian Lange, currently serving on the White House Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), contributed to the Economic Report of the President chapter on space policy, entitled, “Exploring New Frontiers in Space Policy and Property Rights.” The CEA found substantial evidence that improving investors’ expectations in a novel economic sector—like space—increases investment in that sector, leading to more innovation and greater benefits. The Council estimates that private space investment could potentially double in the next eight years.
