Dr. Kevin Cannon has joined the Mines Space Resources Program as Assistant Professor with a joint appointment with the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering. Prof. Cannon comes to Mines from the University of Central Florida, where he was a postdoctoral researcher at the NASA Center for Lunar and Asteroid Surface Science (CLASS) studying the composition of the Moon, small bodies, and Mars, with special interest in in-situ resource utilization. There he was instrumental on founding the Exolith Lab developing a variety of lunar, asteroidal, and Martian simulants. At Mines, he has set up the Cannon Group, which includes research activities on space resources, regolith processing, and planetary cartography.
